What can be licensed?
- Any technology can be licensed if it would add value to the licensee. This could be a new design, process, program or material for producing something.
What industries are you focusing on?
- We would consider technology from any industry. We have clients from a very broad spectrum ranging from medical and pharmaceutical, to agriculture, petrochemical and consumer goods. We also know which industries and product categories are sought after, so feel free to discuss this with us.
How many deals are you busy with?
- At any time, yet2.com has about 1000 active discussions on different technologies with interested companies.
How many of these deals result in agreements?
- About 20% of these deals are closed.
Who will assist me in negotiating with these multi-national companies?
- LTN and Yet2.com can assist you, or conduct mandated negotiations on your behalf. We charge a professional fee for this to cover the time we spend. If you’re a small company or individual, we might agree to not charge the professional fee, but rather increase the success commission percentage.
Can I list more than one technology at a time?
- Yes, you’re not limited in any way.
Can I outsource my company’s complete IP licensing function to LTN?
- This is something that we can discuss with you.
What will it cost me?
- Listing the technology with Yet2.com is free, you only pay a success commission once a successful license has been negotiated, and the money is in your bank account. However, preparing your TechPack makes up an important part of your technology listing since it needs to be very professional and on par with international standards. We normally prefer to compile the TechPack so that we know it is done correctly. For this we might charge you a fee.
Is it possible to deal directly with Yet2.com?
- Yes, some large technology companies pay an annual membership to Yet2.com in order to list all their technologies.
Is it cheaper to deal directly with Yet2.com and exclude LTN?
- No, you’d pay exactly the same success commission percentage to Yet2.com, plus you’d pay an annual membership fee. It just means that Yet2.com would receive the complete success commission and not share a part of that with LTN. By working through LTN, we can ensure that all TechPacks and technologies conform to Yet2.com quality requirements, and can provide you local support with planning and negotiation.
In short, what is the process for listing?
- LTN will make a quick assessment of your technology to see if it has potential in the yet2.com network. We then sign an agreement with you. Thereafter we compile a TechPack, and once the TechPack is approved for publishing, it goes live on the Yet2.com network. Companies that are interested in your technology will contact LTN via yet2.com, and we will link them up directly with you.
Do we deal directly with the international companies?
- Yes, once we link you up with the company, you correspond directly with them. We request that you cc us on all correspondence so that we can keep track and provide assistance where necessary. Some inventors however prefer to provide LTN a mandate to conduct negotiations on their behalf.
How long does it take to get a license agreement in place?
- On average it takes 6 months to 24 months to sign an agreement. Some agreements are very complex and may take up to four years to conclude. However, this depends on the nature and application, and level of development of each technology. So the sooner you start, the better.
Am I obliged to accept an offer I receive via Yet2.com?
- No, you’re under no obligation, but we are confident such offers will be attractive enough to encourage your approval.
